The Team Watch
The BMW Oracle Racing Team is home to “the best of the best” in their fields of activity, people from 16 different nationalities creating a wondrous organism where the world is, indeed, stronger than the sum of its parts. Girard-Perregaux dedicates to each crew member an individually personalized watch with his own crew number engraved on the back. A special series of watches is also produced with the number ‘18’ engraved on the back for non-sailing Team members and close supporters of the Challenge. This year Girard-Perregaux is dedicating an R&D Chronograph to the 18th man, with a steel case and vulcanized natural rubber bracelet.

The name ‘Sea Hawk’ is particularly evocative of Girard-Perregaux’s traditional association with sea-faring activities. Starting in the 60s and 70s, the Sea Hawk line evolved into a series of high performance diving watches, a characteristics that remains to this day.

Who else can claim having a Tourbillon water-resistant to 1000 or even 3000 meters? The challenge was first laid down for Girard-Perregaux designers and engineers. To produce something that would combine the finest Swiss watch-making tradition with today’s technologies creating an object whose exclusivity and performance would set the connoisseurs’pulses racing. Girard-Perregaux is dedicating a series of this exquisitely complex mechanism to BMW Oracle Racing in seriously limited numbers.
